Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then located many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure stated the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
